REIDLAND Intermediate

The RIS Library Media Center houses thousands of outstanding books for students and teachers!  Most of our fiction and nonfiction books are included in the Accelerated Reader incentive program, and many have received awards for excellence in literature.  Lexile is a tool used to measure the readability of a text as well as a student’s reading ability.  The conversion chart shows the Accelerated Reader grade level equivalent to the Lexile Measure.

Our webpage offers several helpful web resources for students, teachers, and parents.  You may access and search for books in our library catalog by clicking on the icon above.  The PBS Kids link provides fun, free educational games for elementary students.  To conduct research, students will love the Kentucky Virtual Library website which contains Grolier Encyclopedias, scholarly journal and magazine articles, and thousands of historical multimedia in the Kentucky Digital Library.  Please see your librarian to retrieve the Kentucky Virtual Library Login and Password.  Citation Wizard is another online research tool that makes documenting sources easy for students.

In order for our students to be college and career ready in the future, RIS believes we have to start young!  Our faculty has integrated career lessons into our school curriculum.  Links to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics and Virginia Career View are included on our library website so that students may explore and research various careers.

Parents, please visit the Book Fair webpage to find out event details and shop for great books for your child.  All items at the Book Fair are tax-exempt, and you don’t have to pay for shipping even if you order online!  Our goal with our Book Fair is to raise enough money to beautify our library, and ultimately, establish a comfortable reading/lounge area.

If you have any questions or book suggestions, please email your school librarian at
